Sgurr a' Mhaoraich Terrain Block

Sgurr a' Mhaoraich is a grand, solitary mountain overlooking Loch Quoich. It stands directly opposite Gleouraich. The south ridge provides a splendid route of ascent, rocky and interesting. From the summit, the view of the Knoydart peaks and the shimmering loch is one of the finest in the Western Highlands.

About Sgurr a' Mhaoraich

The 'Peak of the Shellfish'' A strange name, possibly a corruption. The damming of the loch changed the landscape below, but the mountain remains a wild fortress. It was a favourite of the late Tom Weir, who praised its rugged beauty.
