Sgurr an Lochain Terrain Block

Sgurr an Lochain is a sharp, distinct peak on the South Glen Shiel Ridge. It takes its name from the small lochan nestled in the corrie below its steep northern face. The summit is rocky and small, a true mountain top compared to some of the broader ridges nearby. It marks the midpoint of the great traverse.

About Sgurr an Lochain

The 'Peak of the Little Loch'. It sits directly above the site of the Battle of Glen Shiel (1719), where Jacobite forces and Spanish marines fought the government troops. The rugged slopes would have been a witness to the flight of the defeated clansmen.
