Sgurr Choinnich Terrain Block

Sgurr Choinnich is a steep, conical mountain in the Achnasheen area. It features a fine, narrow eastern ridge that connects it to Sgurr a' Chaorachain. The 'Mossy Peak' name is slightly misleading as the upper slopes are rocky and steep. The view down into the deep corries is spectacular, especially when winter conditions highlight the crags. Access is usually from the A890 road, involving a steep and sustained ascent that rewards the walker with one of the finest ridge lines in the region.

About Sgurr Choinnich

Formerly a Munro Top, it was promoted, then demoted' No, Sgurr Choinnich is a full Munro. (Confusion with Sgurr Choinnich Mor'). It is a classic steep Highland peak. The ridges here were used by drovers moving cattle between the west coast and the markets.
