Sgurr Innse Terrain Block

True to its name—the 'Peak of the Island'—this peak served as a vital landmark for travellers and drovers moving through the strategic Lairig Leacach pass for centuries. Historically, it was part of the vast royal hunting grounds of the Lochaber estates, its ridges historically vital for the wild deer herds and the ancient highland clans. Geologically, it is part of the Dalradian metamorphic complex, its rocks recording millions of years of tectonic pressure, now evident in its folded rocks and sharp ridges. Today, it remains a peak for the connoisseur, often climbed from the remote Lairig Leacach Bothy to appreciate its unique perspective on the wild, untamed heritage of the West Highlands, offering a quiet, uncompromised encounter with the wild spirit of the hills.
