Sgurr Mòr Terrain Block

Sgùrr Mòr is the monarch of the Fannichs, the highest peak in this remote and spiky range. It is a mountain of imposing steepness, with a sharp summit perched above deep corries. It is famous for its 'solifluction terraces' – strange, rippled patterns in the ground caused by freeze-thaw action.

About Sgurr Mòr

The 'Big Peak'. Its height and central position make it the monarch of the range. The Fannichs dam scheme raised the loch, but the mountain remains a towering presence. It has been a triangulation point for mapping the wild north.
