Sgurr na Ciste Duibhe Terrain Block

Sgurr na Ciste Duibhe defines the eastern end of the Five Sisters of Kintail proper. Its name 'Peak of the Black Chest' refers to the deep, square-cut corrie on its flank. The summit is rocky and perched high above Glen Shiel. The descent to the east leads down to the 'Spainiards' Pass'.

About Sgurr na Ciste Duibhe

The 'Black Chest' is a distinctive geological feature. The nearby pass 'Bealach na Spainneart' commemorates the Spanish troops who crossed it before the Battle of Glen Shiel. It is a place steeped in Jacobite history and romance.
