Sgurr na Ruaidhe Terrain Block

Sgurr na Ruaidhe is the most easterly mountain of the Fannichs ridge. It is a rounded, less distinctive peak compared to the western giants, but offers a fine start to ring of the Fannichs. The terrain is stony and grassy. It provides wide views eastwards towards Ben Wyvis and the Black Isle. While often seen as merely the first stepping stone on the ridge, its broad slopes offer easy walking and a chance to gain height quickly before the sharper peaks ahead.

About Sgurr na Ruaidhe

The 'Peak of the Redness', referring to the autumn colours of its vegetation. It sits on the edge of the great wilderness of the Fannichs. Often treated as a warm-up for the main ridge, it has a quiet charm of its own.
