Quinag - Spidean Coinich Terrain Block

Part of a majestic Y-shaped massif, its steep slopes of Torridonian sandstone are crowned with a glittering cap of white Cambrian quartzite, creating a sharp contrast that is iconic of the Northwest Highlands. Quinag's name is a literal description of its grand scale in a region of low horizons. The southern arm, Spidean Coinich, has long been a place of wonder for geologists and explorers. It sits at the heart of the North West Highlands Geopark, where the rock tells a story of billions of years of transformation. Historically part of a landscape of ancient deer forests, the peak remains a vital refuge for golden eagles and other wild species that roam the windswept ridges of Assynt.
