Stob Ghabhar Terrain Block

Stob Ghabhar is the finest mountain in the Black Mount range. It is famous for the 'Aonach Eagach' of the Black Mount, a steep narrow ridge leading to the summit. It is a complex mountain of ridges and corries. The summit view over Rannoch Moor is breathtaking. The variety of terrain, from waterfalls and wooded glens to narrow ridges and broad plateaus, makes this one of the most complete mountaineering days in the Southern Highlands.

About Stob Ghabhar

The 'Peak of the Goat'. The Aonach Eagach ridge here (not the Glencoe one!) is a celebrated scramble. It was a favourite of spy novelist John Buchan. The Couloir on the upper face is a classic winter climb.
