The Brack Terrain Block

Rising dramatically from the rugged interior of the Arrochar Alps, The Brack is a mountain of profound verticality and extraordinary character. Located at the head of Loch Long, its sharp, rocky silhouette is a high bridge between the sea-lochs of the south and the raw, uncompromised power of the High Highlands. The mountain is defined by its massive, tiered metamorphic buttresses and steep, heathery slopes which drop precipitously into the hidden glen of the River Finart. From its airy summit, the view stretches across the flickering reaches of the FIRTH of CLYDE to the distant, serrated horizon of the Isle of Arran and the Irish coast. About The Brack

The Brack has for centuries been part of the vast hunting grounds of the Arrochar and Luss estates, its lands historically vital for the wild deer herds and the ancient highland clans. Historically, its ridges were vital lookouts for the clans and later the military engineers mapping the strategic glens. Geologically, it is part of the Dalradian metamorphic complex, its rocks recording millions of years of tectonic pressure, now evident in its folded rocks and sharp ridges. Today, it remains a peak for the connoisseur, often climbed from Arrochar to appreciate its unique perspective on the wild, untamed heritage of the West Highlands, offering a quiet, uncompromised encounter with the wild spirit of the hills.
