Tolmount Terrain Block

Tolmount is a remote corner of the Glenshee hills, bordering Glen Doll. It is a steep-sided blunt cone. The 'Valley of the Hill' name refers to the ancient route of Jock's Road which passes nearby. It feels wild and isolated. The summit provides a fine view down into the dark cleft of Glen Doll, a dramatic contrast to the rolling moorland of the start.

About Tolmount

Jock's Road is a historic right of way, the highest in Scotland' One of them. It was the scene of a tragedy in 1959. Tolmount stands guard over this lonely route. Drovers used this path for centuries to bring cattle to the southern markets.
